BBC Sport Online's Stuart Roach takes a look back at day four of Royal Lytham's Open Championship.

Bob Duval is ready to propose a toast to his son - and he knows just the cup he wants to drink from.

"We talked on Saturday night that we were going to drink Louis 13th cognac out of the Claret Jug when he gets home," said Duval senior, who watched the final round on television at home in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

"He (David) held it together well and he got the kind of breaks he needed.

"When he hit the driver at the 18th, I knew he had to be feeling right on top of his game.

"He really nailed that one too. It was a lot of fun to watch."

It has often been claimed that Jesper Parnevik, whose home town in Florida is Jupiter, is from another planet.

Certainly, his new putter looks out of this world.

The Swede is trying out the winged club after it helped him win the Honda Classic earlier this season.

An inventor Parnevik had never met asked the star to try the club out, and the Swede, always happy to try something a little different, has not looked back since.

"This guy said he had invented a new putter and handed it to me. It has been in the bag ever since," Parnevik explained.

"It looks a bit strange, but sometimes it works."

Paul Curry's remarkable run of pars at Lytham was stretched to 36 holes before he finally carded a bogey at the par-four eighth.

Curry played the final 11 holes of Friday's round in regulation to survive the half-way cut before matching the card hole-for-hole on Saturday.

Seven more pars were added as he began his final round in rock steady fashion before falling away for a round of 75.

Alex Cejka had the chance to join an elite group of Open golfers at Lytham this week.

Only five players have ever played all four rounds in under 70 - all of them in the last eight years.

Greg Norman, Nick Price and Tiger Woods all claimed the title with four sixty-somethings, though Ernie Els and Jesper Parnevik failed to lift the Claret Jug despite achieving the four-card trick.

After three rounds at Lytham, Cejka was the only player in a position to join them but, after three successive 69s, he saw his Open challenge collapse with a final round 73.

David Duval's victory at Lytham had Titleist officials squirming in the tented village.

The manufacturers are taking their client to court after he switched to Nike clubs recently, so it was no surprise to see the two companies located as far apart as possible in the tented village.

The stars have come out in Lytham this week.

Celebrity spotting has been one of the big pastimes away from the course, with Tom Hanks, Sean Connery and Michael Douglas all reported to have frequented the bars and restaurants in town.

Tom Cruise and Bill Clinton were also allegedly spotted in Taps bar, which has been filled to capacity all week.

Kevin Costner, the star of cheesy golf flick Tin Cup, is another Hollywood star to have been treading the Lytham fairways.
