The 23-year-old managed a one under par final round of 71 for an 11 under total, beating the top player on the European Tour - Spain's Raquel Carriedo - into second place. Lancashire's Kirsty Taylor, who came back from an opening 75 with three rounds in the 60s, was the leading Briton in fifth place on seven under 281. It was her second top five finish of the season.
Icher had gone into the final round leading by two shots, but Carriedo, driven on by the partisan local crowd, grabbed two early birdies to put the pressure on. But, two behind at one stage, Icher remained calm and with three birdies in the final eight holes, she regained the lead and never lost it. Another Spaniard, Paula Marti, romped through the field with a 67 and shared third place on eight under 280 with New Zealand's Lynnette Brooky, who birdied the last for a 72. |
