Sorenstam stars
Annika Sorenstam lines up a putt
Sorenstam is seeking her fourth title of the year
Annika Sorenstam holds a one stroke lead after the first round of the inaugural LPGA Kellogg-Keebler Classic in Illinois.

Sorenstam, who was back in action after a week's break, shot a nine-under par 63 at the Stonebridge Country Club.

Michele Redman lies on eight-under with Danielle Ammaccapane and Jackie Gallagher-Smith another shot back

Sorenstam is seeking her fourth LPGA title this year and her 63 was the second-best score on the tour this year and the lowest on a par-72 course.

I felt calm and relaxed
Annika Sorenstam

At one stage, she was on course to equal her LPGA record of 59 after birdies in eight of her first ten holes.

But she only had two more birdies in her round, missing out at the 11th and the 14th and bogeying the 17th before another birdie at the 18th gave her the lead.

"I felt loose, I felt calm, I felt relaxed," Sorenstam said after her round. "It was just one of those days where it seemed so easy."

Redman, whose last win came in 2000, had eight birdies in a bogey-free round.

She claimed her first top 10 finish last weekend with joint sixth at the Corning Classic.

"I've been so close to making it in the top 10," Redman admitted.

"It's a matter of putts dropping. Last week I could have had more low rounds. I figured I was due for a good round."

Danielle Ammaccapane, seeking her first tour win since 1998 helped her chances with an eagle at the 9th.
