Norwich captain Gary Doherty has said that City's home defeat to Coventry in February was the catalyst for their recent revival.
Saturday's 1-0 win over Plymouth was the Canaries third win in their last four games and lifted them out of the Championship relegation zone.
Doherty told BBC Radio Norfolk: "We looked like we were cut adrift.
"Since then we've put in three terrific performances from four games, and that's promotion form."
City's recent good form has coincided with Doherty's re-appointment as the club captain, after Mark Fotheringham was stripped of the armband.
But the Republic of Ireland international was keen to stress that Saturday's win was a result of the good work done by manager Bryan Gunn and his coaching staff.
"It's something the gaffer's really brought in, that set pieces are massive," said Doherty.
"Even if you don't score it puts teams under pressure and that's what you want in this league."
Doherty also paid tribute to the Canaries' latest forward line, the on-loan pairing of David Mooney and Alan Gow.
"Gow is doing terrific in the hole and running in behind, and with Dave getting a couple of goals they're obviously buzzing with confidence," said Doherty.
"They've only played two games together so we'll do a lot of work with them in training.
"They can only probably get better now and I'm sure they're going to score the goals that'll keep us in this league."
