Chapman is planning to use the Barracudas as a feeder team |
King's Lynn Barracudas will make their speedway debut on Friday when they take on local rivals Mildenhall Fen Tigers in the Knockout Cup. Manager Dale Allitt said: "What a great way to launch our season, a Knockout Cup tie with our local rivals." The Barracudas have included a mix of both experienced and new riders for their first outing. The new team, who will compete in the National League, are a venture of King's Lynn Stars owner Buster Chapman. Chapman previously told BBC Radio Norfolk he planned to use the Barracudas as a feeder club for the Stars. | Hopefully we can bring some good English lads in that'll make the grade |
"We're going to bring in some new talent and hopefully bring them through to the Premier League," he said. "We keep using foreign riders from all over the place, hopefully we can bring some good English lads in that'll make the grade." The Barracudas team features Jake Knight, son of former Stars hero Richard Knight, British Under-15 champion Rhys Taylor, Leicester-born Adam Lowe and Ipswich-born Scott Campos. Stars duo Adam Allott and Darren Mallett are also included.
