Speedway fans in the King's Lynn area will have twice the action this summer with the formation of a new team.

King's Lynn Barracudas will race in the National League, in place of the now-defunct Boston team.

Promoter Buster Chapman told BBC Radio Norfolk he planned to use the new venture as a feeder for his Premier League team, King's Lynn Stars.

"We're going to bring in some new talent and hopefully bring them through to the Premier League," he said.

He added: "We keep using foreign riders from all over the place, hopefully we can bring some good English lads in that'll make the grade."

It's quite an expensive league for us to run in, so hopefully we'll get some good young riders out of it who'll sign for the club

In recent season Chapman's Stars has been made up predominantly of Australian riders, while the star of the team is undoubtedly Czech captain Tomas Topinka.

Chapman believes it is important that young English talent gets its chance to shine in the future.

"That's why we've taken the gamble of running a team in that league, it's quite an expensive league for us to run in, so hopefully we'll get some good young riders out of it who'll sign for the club and be with us for the future," he said.
