Redcar Speedway have made a U-turn on their decision to enter their Cubs reserve side in the newly formed National Speedway League in 2009.

Club manager Brian Havelock has withdrawn from this season's competition but has not ruled out involvement in future seasons.

He said: "We have decided to focus all our attention on a successful campaign for the Redcar Bears.

"We will review the circumstances in 2010," he added.

"We have assembled a competitive team but know in the current economic climate that we must not over-stretch our budget."

The club continues to have a commitment to youth development through impending training schools at the circuit.
