Gary Doherty's late goal sealed a vital win for struggling Norwich in their battle to avoid relegation.
Norwich went ahead when Watford`s on-loan Tottenham winger Danny Rose sent the ball into his own net as he attempted to tackle Jon Otsemobor.
Jason Shackell's header was hacked off the line by Jon Harley as the Canaries pushed foward for a second goal.
It came when Shackwell's header from Sammy Clingan's corner hit the crossbar and Doherty tucked away the loose ball.
Norwich manager Bryan Gunn told BBC Radio Norfolk:
"To do that in front of your own fans, when certain sections of the media have written you off, we needed a response, and certainly the players responded.
"In the first five minutes they set the tone for the game, when we got the goal the fact that our right-back was closing down one of their defenders, that sort of attitude spread though the team.
"We grew in confidence and the supporters were right behind us, and the biggest crowd of the season at Carrow Road sung us through to victory," he said.
Watford manager Brendan Rodgers:
"It was very disappointing, we were not at our best and there is no doubt that Norwich deserved to win.
"We had great support today and we let them down a little bit. We are a lot better than we showed.
"The main thing now is that we react to the defeat in the right way. I'm still looking upwards and want us to finish in the top half of the table.
"We've got three games left, two of which are at home, and we've got to push on."
