Doherty has been sent off twice for Norwich City this season

Norwich have won their appeal against Gary Doherty's red card shown during Saturday's 2-1 defeat by Bristol City.

The centre-back was dismissed after conceding a penalty for bringing down veteran striker Dele Adebola.

The Republic of Ireland international, 29, has avoided a two-game ban, following the Football Association's bid to overturn the dismissal.

Norwich boss Bryan Gunn told the club website: "This shows the appeal system works. Gary played the ball."
