Leeds United midfielder Peter Sweeney says he will know within seven days where he will be playing his football next season.
The 24-year-old has been in talks with Grimsby Town after accepting his time at Elland Road looks over.
"I just have to speak to my agent in a week's time and he'll let me know what offers are around," Sweeney told BBC Radio Humberside.
"I expect to leave Leeds United now, although that's not 100% yet."
Sweeney spent the end of last season on loan with the Mariners, making eight appearances to help the club avoid relegation from the Football League.
The Scot has brought to Elland Road by former Leeds boss Dennis Wise on a two-and-a-half-year deal in January 2008.
Sweeney explained: "Football is a funny game and you never know what will happen, so I can't say for sure what will happen as yet.
"I've spoken to Mike Newell [Grimsby manager] a couple of times and he's told me Grimsby are interested in taking me.
"I won't be ruling that move out, but I have to wait to see what options my agent gives me, but Grimsby is one I'm certainly looking to go to."
