Hoggard has taken 248 Test wickets for England

Former England fast bowler Matthew Hoggard has hinted he could leave Yorkshire at the end of the season.

The 32-year-old will finish his current contract at the end of the season and has yet to sign the new deal offered by the Tykes.

"I'm not ruling it out," Hoggard told the Yorkshire Post.

"I would have to work out what's best for me and what's best for my family, but it's not impossible I could be playing somewhere else next year."

Hoggard, who was offered a new contract at the start of the season, has been left out of Yorkshire's one-day and Twenty20 games so far this season.

"Obviously cricket is my job and you've got to go where the work is, and if I'm not getting any work up here, so to speak, then it's possible I might have to go and look for it elsewhere," England's sixth-highest Test wicket taker added.

"I don't want to leave because I love playing for Yorkshire and I'm a Yorkshireman through and through, but, at the same time, cricket is my job and I've got to provide a living for my family.

"I very much hope I'll be able to come to an agreement with Yorkshire because the club has been a huge part of my life. The players, the fans, everyone up here is brilliant.

"Yorkshire offered a new deal at the start of the season but I told them I was in no great haste to sign and was keeping my options open.

"I've never been a great one for saying 'Right, I'll sign now' and then wishing I hadn't done five months later," he said.

"I like to hold the cards and say 'Right, in five months' time I can either stay or go'.

"I like to be in charge of my future rather than the other way round."
