Pitt was released at the end of last season only to return in July
Cambridge United boss Gary Brabin has praised winger Courtney Pitt for the impact he made during the second half of Tuesday's 2-1 win over Mansfield.
Pitt has broken back into the U's first team following a long-term injury.
Brabin told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I was tempted to bring Courtney off at half-time, but I always try to keep believing in him.
"He probably thinks I pick on him a bit, but I do believe in him and I he was brilliant in the second half."
Pitt suffered a knee injury in pre-season, but has now made nine starts since returning to first-team action in December.
The U's are now nine matches unbeaten in the Blue Square Premier, but could be short of strikers for Saturday's match with Northwich.
We've still got problems with Holroyd and Phillips, but we've got a great squad and should be able to cope

"We've had our fair share of bad luck with injures, certainly before Christmas and it's good to have people coming back," Brabin said.
"We've still got problems with Holroyd and Phillips, but we've got a great squad and should be able to cope."
Meanwhile, the club have confirmed that Ipswich loanee Jai Reason - who scored the winner against Mansfield - will be spending another month at the Abbey.
The 19-year-old has been an ever present in the side since joining the club on an initial one-month deal.
