U's keen to extend Reason loan

Cambridge United

Cambridge United boss Gary Brabin has confirmed that talks are ongoing with Ipswich Town over extending the loan of midfielder Jai Reason.

The 19-year-old has been a huge success at the Abbey, starting all six games during his initial one-month loan.

Brabin told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "We're in talks at the moment and we'll see how it goes.

"He's brought something a bit different to the side, he's raised the bar for the rest of the midfield."

Brabin has also confirmed that the club are interested in re-signing teenage midfielder Sam Cutler.

The 19-year-old U's academy product was allowed to leave the club for Weymouth over the summer by former boss Jimmy Quinn.

"He's still friendly with Jez George [U's director of youth] and they've been speaking, Sam is a player we'd have definitely tried to keep hold of", Brabin said.

Meanwhile, midfielder Mark Convery will stay on loan with the U's youth side CRC for another month.

Convery has been out of the first-team picture since damaging medial knee ligaments back in December.
