Former Cambridge United defender Michael Morrison believes his move to Leicester City has been in the best interests of everyone involved.

For much of last season Morrison looked set to leave United on a free, but eventually signed a new two-year deal.

"I think it's worked out best for everyone," Morrison told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

"I eventually got a move to a big League One club and Cambridge have got the right money for me."

Morrison, 20, has joined the Foxes on a two-year contract for an undisclosed fee and admits he is delighted with the move.

A former Cambridge academy product, he made more than 100 first-team appearances for the club.

"My feet haven't touched the ground since I signed," Morrison said.

"George [Rolls] and Phil [Law] - I've got to give them credit - said it was a massive opportunity and I couldn't really shy away from it."

The Cambridge board have pledged to make the money from the transfer available to manager Gary Brabin to spend on new players.

Morrison becomes the 10th player to leave the Abbey over the summer, but believes his old club still have a chance of making the Blue Square Premier play-offs again this season.

"I think it will be a difficult season because of all the changes and the new manager coming in, but I can't see why they can't keep in the play-offs," he said.
