The Admirals are still fourth in the table after their defeat
Plymouth Admirals' disappointing season continued as they suffered their fifth league game of the season 45-0 to play-off chasing Peterborough Saxons.
A depleted Admirals side was no match for the Saxons, who are one win off the lead in the British American Football Leagues's East Conference.
Two passing touchdowns from Aaron Gepp, and scores from Dale Hawes and Ricky Benson gave the Saxons a 26-0 lead.
Steve George, Bobby Amissah and Ronnie Foster then secured the riot.
"The Saxons are a very good team" said Admirals head coach Steve Perry. "They deserved the win but I think the scoreline was a little kind to them."
"We almost scored on a couple of occasions and another touchdown was halted by a refereeing error. That display warranted some points and I'm disappointed for the players who deserved more."
Saxons general manager Mark Kerr told the club website: "We're delighted with the performance. The long journey posed a risk of fatigue, but our fitness levels were excellent."
The Admirals' next match is against the Hampshire Thrashers at Parkway Sports Club on Sunday, 3 August, while the Saxons host Bedfordshire on 17 August.
"Hampshire's form has dipped in recent weeks and if we perform like we know we can there could be an upset on the cards," Plymouth's Perry said.
