Plymouth scored more points against South Wales than any other side
Plymouth Admirals pushed league leaders South Wales Warriors all the way as they went down 19-12.
The Welsh, who had not conceded a touchdown all season, were behind in the first minute as Kyle Micallef returned the kick off-for a touchdown.
The Warriors, who had not been behind in a game all season, were 6-0 down at the break before getting back into it.
They scored three straight rushing touchdowns to lead 19-6 before an Admirals push got one touchdown back.
We gave them a hell of a game today
Admirals Head Coach Steve Perry
Tonie Browne caught an 11-yard pass from Rob Williams for his first touchdown for the Admirals to get them within one score of winning the game.
Admirals then looked as though they could snatch the win as Mario Pinder blocked a late Warriors punt, but the Welsh side intercepted a late pass and held on for the 19-12 win.
"We gave them a hell of a game. Considering the strength of the opponents, this was an even better performance than we had against Reading last weekend," said Admirals head coach Steve Perry.
"We're beginning to look like a team and I'm very pleased with how our newer players are performing."
South Wales stay top of the South West Conference of the BAFL with three wins from three games while the Admirals are second from bottom.
The Admirals are now preparing for the first south west derby of the season as they travel to Newquay to take on the Cornish Sharks.
