Cambridge United have rejected a bid from Southend United for teenage defender Michael Morrison. Shrimpers assistant boss Paul Brush said the two sides' valuations of the 19-year-old were "miles apart".
"He is a young player with no League experience that can develop," Brush told the club website.
"We wanted to pay an incentive-based transfer fee, they wanted a large proportion up front. It looks like any deal is dead in the water now."
Morrison has already trained with Chelsea, Newcastle and Everton, as well as Southend last month.
The Shrimpers are searching for a centre-back afer Spencer Prior retired and Efe Sodje was released.
