Oxford surrendered their seven-match unbeaten run to Scunthorpe at the Kassam Stadium.

The decisive goal came from a penalty when James Hunt was adjudged to have handled the ball.

Oxford goalkeeper Andy Woodman, whose saves in the midweek Worthington Cup penalty shoot-out eliminated Charlton, could do nothing to keep out Peter Beagrie's effort.

The home side were never in the hunt until late on when Andy Scott had a shot cleared off the line by Jamie McCombe.
