| Friday, 4 October, 2002, 09:54 GMT 10:54 UK Macclesfield 2-0 Boston Boston remain firmly anchored to the bottom of the Football League after another lacklustre display in a 2-0 defeat at Macclesfield. They were caught cold early when veteran striker Kyle Lightbourne nodded a Steve Hitchen cross into the path of Danny Whitaker, who slotted home his sixth goal of the season. Macclesfield could have added another goal on the stroke of half-time but for a magnificent save from Boston keeper Paul Bastock from Lightbourne's dipping 20-yard free-kick. Boston went close through skipper Neil Redfearn, who smashed a free-kick through the defensive wall only for goalkeeper Steve Wilson to make a sharp reaction save. Macclesfield secured the points late on when on-loan Stockport youngster Andy Welsh headed home a flick-down from Matthew Tipton.
