| Thursday, 13 February, 2003, 00:29 GMT Northampton 1-1 QPR Goalkeeper Glyn Thompson produced a string of crucial saves to help Northampton collect their first point at Sixfields since late November. The Cobblers also ended a 77-day wait for a Sixfields goal thanks to Brent Rahim's first-half opener. Rahim volleyed the ball home from 10 yards in the 16th minute after Marco Gabbiadini had pulled the ball back. Kevin Gallen should have equalised for Rangers after being sent clear in the 36th minute but his shot was just off target. Thompson stole the show in the second half, saving bravely at Paul Furlong`s feet before the Rangers striker equalised on the hour-mark after being sent free by Steve Palmer. Thompson produced three more crucial saves, twice denying Gallen and Furlong to keep Northampton level. Gabbiadini almost stole it for the Cobblers when his header was cleared off the line with goalkeeper Nick Culkin well beaten. Northampton: Thompson, Gill, Carruthers, Reid, Hope, Asamoah, Johnson, Rahim, Trollope, McGregor, Gabbiadini. Subs: Harsley, Abbey, Burgess, Lincoln, Morison. QPR: Culkin, Forbes, Padula, Palmer, Shittu, Thomson, Daly, Bircham, Griffiths, Furlong, Gallen. Subs: Day, Doudou, Plummer, Bean, Angell. Referee: C Webster (Tyne & Wear) |
