Win at St Neots delights King's Lynn boss Gary Setchell
Steve Spriggs celebrates scoring his second hat-trick of the season.
King's Lynn joint-manager Gary Setchell was delighted with his promotion chasing side's 4-2 victory over United Counties League leaders St Neots.
Steve Spriggs scored a hat-trick as Lynn came from behind twice at St Neots' Rowley Park ground on Saturday to end their unbeaten run.
Setchell told BBC Radio Norfolk: "There was 10 points between us three weeks ago but we've kept winning.
"All of a sudden we're a point behind. I know what position I'd rather be in."
King's Lynn are now third in the United Counties League, one point behind Newport Pagnell Town with three games in hand.
Nearly 1,500 supporters packed into Rowley Park and Setchell believes the atmosphere and quality of play was deserving of a higher level of football.
"It's smashed a 30-year crowd record in the UCL, the football was above UCL level, that could have been a game two leagues above," he said.
"It was like a football league match, there'll be games in the Conference and League Two without that sort of atmosphere.
"St Neots have never been in the trenches this season, we've been there at Beckenham, Norton, Wroxham, and dug out results.
"St Neots have always had the luxury of being able to play teams off the park, but there was no way we were going to give them that."
The two sides come head-to-head just a week after this result, when they meet at The Walks in the last 16 of the FA Vase, but Setchell expects a very different encounter.
"They can't be happy with today, they're going to come back to The Walks next week and they're not going to take us too lightly now," he added.
"I know their manager was in the paper saying it should be comfortable, I reminded him of that at the final whistle, but that was good, I just had to pin the paper up in the dressing room."
