Kevin Boon sounds King's Lynn reality check

King's Lynn Town director of football Kevin Boon has called for perspective amid the club's promotion campaign.

The Linnets were re-formed this year in the Unibond League Premier Division after being wound up in December.

Boon told BBC Radio Norfolk: "This is about building a football club, you must not run before you can walk, 99% of the spectators realise this.

"It's a great club, we're playing great football and people love it, but you'll always get the minority who criticise."

Wednesday night's 1-1 draw at Blackstones means King's Lynn are 11 points adrift of league leaders St Neots Town, but have three games in hand.

Boon's men are preparing themselves for a congested fixture list, after making it through to the third round of the FA Vase, in which they are set to face Beckenham Town on 4 December.

"Our ambition is, until it's impossible, to keep thinking we can be champions," Boon added.

"We've got to play St Neots twice, but if you look at Wroxham last year, they went to the final of the Vase but slipped to something like 15th in the league.

"You've got to remember that's a lot of games, 50 or 60 games, and we don't carry the biggest squad."
