Truro City's Southern League Division One South and West match at Paulton Rovers was called off 40 minutes before kick-off on Saturday.
City made the 360-mile round trip to the Bristol-based side after an early inspection deemed the surface playable.
But less than hour before kick-off the referee decided to call it off, leaving the City hierarchy unhappy.
"We've played on worse pitches," Truro City vice-chairman Chris Webb told BBC Radio Cornwall.
"It wasn't the whole pitch, just one corner of the pitch where it sloped down into the corner," Webb added.
The result means third-placed City are now eight points behind new league leaders AFC Totton with a game in hand.
