Plymouth 0-2 Bristol City

Goals from Michael McIndoe and Liam Fontaine secured victory for Bristol City at rain-soaked Home Park.

Bristol City keeper Adriano Basso saved superbly from Plymouth striker Jamie Mackie early on.

And McIndoe put the visitors ahead with an emphatic left-foot finish after being played in by Nicky Maynard.

Fontaine secured the points late on when keeper Romain Larrieu dropped McIndoe's cross and he was on hand to tap in from close range.

Plymouth manager Paul Sturrock:
"The players have given everything and I couldn't ask for more from them. I'm just exasperated.

"It was always going to be that the first team to make a mistake would lose the game and in the end we made it.

"It was a tight, tight game but we knew that in the kind of run that we are in, nothing seems to turn for you at all."

Bristol City boss Gary Johnson:
"It's a great result, 2-0 away at Plymouth and especially in those conditions.

"The referee did well to get the game on, in agreement with both managers. When you walk out there you realise just how heavy the rain was.

"I was especially proud of our second-half performance, but to be honest our whole performance was fantastic."
