Truro City moved up to second in Division One South and West of the Southern League after a goalless draw with leaders AFC Totton on Tuesday.
It was the first time the two sides had met since City beat Totton 3-1 in the FA Vase final at Wembley in May 2007.
"We deserved to win the game," assistant manager Dave Newton told BBC Radio Cornwall.
"Our players were magnificent, their attitude was magnificent and we had 11 giants out there."
He added: "We had a couple of half chances and I thought a couple of decisions should have gone our way.
"But you can ask no more than what we got. Every one of the players were committed, the attitude was superb, and they gave everything for the cause."
