The group behind Guernsey Athletics' bid to join the Kent Premier League say they are starting to get their business plan for the case together.
The club have to prove to both the English FA and clubs in the Kent Premier League that having a side from Guernsey is a viable proposition.
James Blower, the club's commercial director, told BBC Guernsey that it is a time-consuming process.
"We're trying to put something together in the next four or five months."
"There's a lot of work under way with that at the moment to try and get it in place. "There's obviously a lead time into being able to compete from September next year," he added.
And Blower says that the plan is for the Guernsey side to meet all the travel costs for the Kent teams coming to the island.
"It will be fully costed, so the cost of travel for the clubs would be funded by us.
"Some of the clubs are concerned about the travel, but the way we view it they'll be able to fly in and out in a day and it will be no different to travelling to a long away game.
"Some of the clubs have a two-hour trip for away matches as it is and it's only a 40 minute flight. But we hope they will see having an extra club as a better benefit than the extra long journey they may have," he added.
