Watson is the second-highest ranked British girl in the world |
Guernsey tennis player Heather Watson has risen to 23 in the world junior rankings, her highest placing yet. It comes despite being knocked out in straight sets in the first round of the Grade A Orange Bowl tournament in Florida last week. Watson did make the quarter-finals of the doubles with her partner and fellow Briton Stephanie Cornish. She is the second highest-rated British girl behind junior Wimbledon champion and world number five Laura Robson. Watson's ranking has shot up over the past month after she won the Yucatan World Cup and made the final of the Eddie Herr International tournaments in successive weeks.
