Watson's great run has come to an abrupt end after losing her first-round match

Guernsey tennis player Heather Watson has been knocked out in the first round of the ITF's Orange Bowl junior tournament in Florida.

The 16-year-old, who was the number eight seed, went down 6-4, 6-3 to American qualifier Asia Muhammed.

It was her third major junior event in as many weeks after she won Mexico's Yuctan World Cup and reached the final of the Eddie Herr International.

Watson had risen to a career-high ranking of 24 in the world.
