Harrogate second after Hyde win

Harrogate Town have moved up to second in the Blue Square North following their 2-1 home win over Hyde United.

Striker Jamie Smith scored one goal and set up the second in Saturday's game.

And Town manager Neil Aspin told BBC Radio York: "In the second half for about 30 minutes that's probably the best we've played all season."

Meanwhile defender Jason Whittle will miss Tuesday's game at home to Telford with a thigh injury, while Nathan Peat and Matty Young are both doubtful.

Aspin quipped: "Matty Young is nicknamed 'sicknote' now because he's always sat with an ice-pack, he's always got about four ice-packs on his legs but he did well to get through the game."

Every game at home we've got to look to win

And the Town boss said he could sign a centre-half on loan if Whittle is likely to be out for some time.

"I don't think we can take the chance because we've had a decent run and we want to keep it going," he said.

"I'm always speaking to people so hopefully somebody could do us a favour."

Tuesday's opponents Telford are fourth in the table and among the promotion favourites.

And Aspin added: "They've got two good forwards, [Terry] Fearns and Andy Brown, who's the top scorer in the league, so you can see they possess a real threat.

"Every game at home we've got to look to win, we've got to press on and hopefully get another three points."
