Boddy eyes Worcester peace talks

Dave Boddy
Boddy is hoping for an amicable conclusion to his talks

Worcester City chairman Dave Boddy is still talking to 'rebel' former directors about the future of the club.

Boddy held talks with the group, who have been trying to take over the club, at the weekend and he hopes to reach an amicable conclusion.

"We have got decent people on both sides of the fence," Boddy told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"We just need to get everyone together, pulling in the same direction. We don't want to be squabbling."

He added: "We don't want to be on the back page of the papers and on the radio for the wrong reasons."

The consortium had an application to force an Extraordinary General Meeting turned down on technical reasons but were still believed to be continuing their efforts to push a meeting through.

Their spokeman Derek Jones told BBC Hereford and Worcester two weeks ago they would be carrying on with their efforts to take over the club.

"There were a couple of technicalities, but they were very minor points," he said.

But Boddy says he and the current board have had further talks with Jones' group and feels they do have some common ground.

"There's a lot of goodwill there, and they've got a lot of good skills and a lot of desire and passion for the club, and we all want the best for the club," he added.

Worcester have called an open meeting for all supporters on Thursday, and Boddy says he will announce another new director at the event at Worcester's Whitehouse Hotel.
