The Isle of Man Under-18s beat Nottinghamshire 2-1 on Sunday to qualify for the second round of the FA County Youth Cup.

Matt Skillicorn's looping header gave the Manx team an early lead only for Nottinghamshire to draw level on the stroke of half-time.

Right-back Dan Tait scored the winner in injury time.

Kevin Manning's side will travel to either Northumberland or Cheshire in the second round.

Manning said he was encouraged by the performance from his young side.

"We played some great football and dominated large periods of the game," he said.

"Technically we were on our game and our fitness levels were excellent.

"If we had had our finishing heads on we could have scored four or five."
