Vale Rec will play in the 2009/10 Somerset Senior Cup

Vale Recreation have been accepted into the Somerset Senior Cup for the 2009/10 season, starting in November.

The club was the first to enter a County Cup competition in 1984.

Club secretary Lester Forman said he was delighted to give a new generation of first-team players a chance to play in a senior English County competition.

The first round of the Somerset Senior Cup will be played on Saturday 7 November and future rounds on the first Saturday of each month.

Home games will be played at the Corbet Field early on Saturday evenings, replicating a formula which proved popular with fans in the 1980s.

Forman thanked the Somerset County FA for their assistance in having Vale Rec included in the competition.
