Open a great experience - Watson

Heather Watson
Watson enjoyed experiencing the atmosphere of Roland Garros

Heather Watson was delighted with her run in the Junior French Open despite missing out on her first Grand Slam title by just two points.

The 17-year-old was knocked out in the first round of the singles tournament on her Roland Garros debut.

But she made it to the doubles final with her Hungarian partner Timea Babos only to lose 10-8 on a tiebreak.

She said: "It was a great experience just being around the pros. I walked past the stars as if it was normal."

The Guernsey teenager has now competed at all the Grand Slam events and admitted her favourite was the US Open because: "You get free manicures and free haircuts."

Watson was given two days off following the tournament a time she said was going to be used for catching up on her homework before preparations for the grass court tournaments begins.
