St Georges move closer to title

Football

St Georges 2-0 win over Gymnasium on Wednesday night means that three points against Douglas High School Old Boys will secure the title.

Geordies led 1-0 at half-time with island international Jack McVey crossing for Alex Harrison to power home from close range.

Gymns started the second half well but when McVey converted a dubious penalty decision the points were tied up.

Geordies are now two points behind Peel with one match to play.

Meanwhile, St Mary's finished their campaign in fourth after a 1-0 victory over Michael United.

Steven Priestnal headed the deciding goal midway through the second half.
