The Guernsey Football Association says people supporting young players need to ensure they abide by the rules of the Respect programme.
The initiative, which urges supporters to ensure they are positive towards players and officials, began at the start of the season.
"Clapping and 'well-dones' are what we want," said the GFA's Paul Mooney.
"But mum and dad and grandad advising children what to do while they're playing might not be right," he added.
Mooney says that by ensuring that youngsters are encouraged it will help them have a positive attitude towards the game.
"A pat on the back goes a long, long way, especially when you're little.
"We hope to make the game more enjoyable for everybody from match officials to players and supporters so that everyone enjoys the experience," Mooney told BBC Guernsey.
