Lyth scored 83 for Yorkshire against Surrey three days earlier
Scarborough's Adam Lyth opened up the Yorkshire Premier League title race with 89, 78 of them in boundaries, to send York down to a 10-wicket defeat.
The Yorkshire player was keen to praise his side's bowlers for dismissing York for 128, with Piet Rinke taking 5-51.
Lyth told BBC Radio York: "Rinke bowled absolutely fantastic on a pretty placid pitch, a little bit of swing and movement, and we took our catches well.
"The ball was there to be hit and so I hit it, that's the way I play."
After overhauling York's total in 16.3 overs, he added: "You can't take anything away from York, they're a very good team and have won the league.
Adam's in great form, he made light work of scoring 80-odd in a hurry, didn't he?

"When I got to 50 or 60 I was looking more to practice, I'm in the squad for the Twenty20 game at Headingley on Monday (against Leicestershire), I hit the spinners well and it paid off.
"On another day I could have nicked the first ball but today I edged it for four. You need a bit of luck in cricket and I got a bit of luck today and played very well."
Lyth's urgency ended the game at 1600 BST and not the 1930 that Scarborough skipper Darren Harland might have expected.
"When you're up against York you expect a heavy game," said Harland, "but today we got over the line fairly comfortably."
Harland's 37, 30 of them in boundaries, denied Lyth the chance of a century and he added: "He'll get plenty of them in his time.
"Adam's in great form, he made light work of scoring 80-odd in a hurry, didn't he? The lad's on fire, he just sees it like a beach ball at the moment."
Harrogate lost at Sheffield United by nine wickets.
Harrogate made 156 for six, and were in with a chance after taking an early wicket in reply.
United's Neil Longhurst ended their hopes with 110 not out as they put on an unbeaten 154 for the second wicket.
