Lyth hit a century for Yorkshire at Nottinghamshire in 2008 |
Scarborough batsman Adam Lyth has set himself the target of becoming a regular for Yorkshire. The 21-year-old made his debut in the Championship last year and he now wants to become a regular in one-day games. Lyth told BBC Radio York: "In one day cricket I think my average is only about 18 so I want to be improve. I want to be somewhere close to 35. "That's where I want to be and if you're going to play for England that's what I want to do." He added: "I want to be up on that and I want to be in that Championship side. | Martin and Anthony have given me that chance and hopefully I can repay them for that |
"I want to improve my average and score hundreds for Yorkshire. That's my aim for the rest of the season." Lyth has been playing for Scarborough in the Yorkshire Premier League and although he said he enjoys playing for them he wants to make a name for himself with the county side. "Nothing against Scarborough but I want to be playing for Yorkshire. That's why I'm at Scarborough playing on this fantastic club ground. "I want to win games for Yorkshire and I'm good enough to do that and I'm sure I will win games for Yorkshire. I just need to get that chance. "Martin (Moxon) and Anthony (McGrath) have given me that chance and hopefully I can repay them for that."
