Yorkshire youngster Adam Lyth has signed a new deal to stay at Headingley for a further three years.

The former England Under-19 left-hander made a first team breakthrough last season, being voted the White Rose men's young player of the year.

Whitby-born Lyth, 21, played 14 County Championship fixtures in 2008, hitting 645 runs at 30.71.

That included his maiden first-class century, 132 against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge in July.

Lyth said: "It was always my dream to play cricket for Yorkshire. And 2008 has gone really well for me.

"My challenge now is to continue the hard work into 2009 and beyond.

"I'm delighted to have signed a three-year deal as this is where I want to play my cricket and I think there are exciting times ahead for the club."
