Lyth secures win for Scarborough

YPL Trophy
York have won the YPL title three times in five years

Yorkshire's Adam Lyth led the way with eight sixes in an innings of 150 to help Scarborough beat Hull by 156 runs in the Yorkshire Premier League.

Scarborough amassed 301-6 against Hull, with Mark Tennant hitting 46 and Piet Rinke making 44.

In reply Hull fell for 145, with James Finch taking 3-21 and Simon Tennant ending on 2-2, the result meant Scarborough took the full eight points.

York also enjoyed a big win, beating Appleby Frodingham by 150 runs.

The victory at Clifton Park was York's fourth out of five, following last week's surprise defeat at Rotherham.

Dan Wilson made 110 of his side's 262-8, while Simon Mason made 45.

Scunthorpe ended on 112, with Dan Woods taking 6-24 and Nick Kay 2-23, York took the full eight points.

Harrogate responded to last week's poor display at Appleby Frodingham with a gritty performance to claim three points against Driffield for a no result at St Georges Road.

Harrogate posted a "competitive" 163, according to skipper John Proud, with Imran Patel scoring 52, his first half-century of the season.

A violent rainstorm forced Driffield to attempt to score 150 in 21 overs when play resumed.

Danny Brompton hit three sixes in his 32 but three wickets in one over bowled by youngster Nicky Taylor, who took 4-16, forced Driffield to settle for 140-7 and both sides took three points.

"He's a really promising prospect is Nick, he's got a lot of talent and could do very well in Yorkshire League cricket," Proud added.

Curiously, his brother Ashley Lyth was man-of-the-match the previous week, with 54 and 7-54 in the surprise three-run win at title contenders Barnsley.
