York have won the YPL title three times in five years |
York continued their excellent start to the defence of their Yorkshire Premier League title with an eight-wicket win at home to title challengers Barnsley. York restricted Barnsley to 199-9 with former Goole player Ashley Hulme taking 5-51 and Alex Renton 2-58. In reply Hulme made 102 (no) making his century with the winning hit. Hulme told BBC Radio York: "I felt very comfortable (at the crease), especially with the new ball, out there you hit it hard and I thoroughly enjoyed it." So York took six points for an incomplete win. Scarborough enjoyed a 10-wicket win at home to Sheffield Collegiate, who batted first and posted 170 all out. Scarborough's Simon Tennant took 3-36. In reply Adam Lyth cracked 116 (no) in 110 balls, and skipper Darren Harland weighed in with 54 (no), to reach 174-0 and claim the full eight points. Harrogate were unfortunate to lose to Doncaster off the last ball at St George's Road. Nick Lindley hit 110 (no) as Harrogate posted 220-6. In reply Doncaster cruised to 89-0, collapsed as Hanif Mohammed took 5-71, but scored four runs to win off the last delivery. Disappointed Harrogate skipper John Proud said: "We dropped six catches so I'm not a happy captain."
