Jersey coach Kirsten is looking forward to a great match against Guernsey |
Jersey coach Peter Kirsten has urged his side to secure back-to-back wins over Guernsey when the islands meet in Saturday's inter-insular. Jersey won last year's match after Guernsey had claimed victory in the previous five. "We need to keep the momentum going, winning becomes a habit so Saturday is a huge game for all the guys," Kirsten told BBC Jersey. "I know Guernsey are going to be very hungry after what happened last year." Jersey have some new faces in the squad, most notably youngsters Ben Stevens, Anthony Kay and Sam Dewhurst. Kirsten said he was impressed with the new additions: "We identified areas where we needed to be strengthened and there it is, it's just fallen out of the sky." But Kirsten is looking beyond the one-off inter-insular and believes the fixture will be a good build-up to Jersey's ICC World Cricket League Division Four trip to Tanzania. "It's going to be a great game, very competitive, all good for the build-up to the tournament in Guernsey and of course the big one in Tanzania in October," he added. The game is scheduled to start at Grainville in Jersey on Saturday, 9 August at 1100 BST.
