 Kirsten will guide Jersey against the Guernsey rivals |
Former South African Test player Peter Kirsten has agreed to return to Jersey to coach the island side for next month's inter-insular with Guernsey. Kirsten coached the island side as they reached the final of the World Cricket League Division Five tournament in May. Jersey won last year's inter-insular in Guernsey by just four runs - their first win over their old rivals for five years. The game at Jersey's Grainville ground, is scheduled for Saturday 9 August. Kirsten will then stay with the side to prepare them for the European Cricket Council's Division Two tournament in Guernsey the following week.  | He's here for two weeks and then takes us through to the European tournament, by which time he'll have done a lot of work with the guys Jersey Cricket Board Chris Minty | "He's very impressed with the structure we have here," the Jersey Cricket Board's Chris Minty told BBC Radio Jersey. "He's also very impressed with the way the players applied themselves to a task and then subsequently achieved that task in the Division Five tournament." Minty says the game with Guernsey is part of the island side's preparations for the European event, which Jersey reached the final of two years ago in Scotland. "He's here for two weeks and then takes us through to the European tournament, by which time he'll have done a lot of work with the guys," Minty said. Minty also confirmed that Kirsten will coach the island side at the World Cricket League Division Four tournament in Tanzania in October.
