Some of the world's best BMX riders are set to put their skills to the test on a specially constructed course in South Devon this weekend.

The Red Bull Empire of Dirt event sees riders tackle a 470m-long course just outside Ashburton.

The course, of over a dozen jumps and six ramps, is set to test the riders to their absolute limits.

"It is scary because you go really high and have to jump really big jumps," said Spanish rider Sergio Layos.

The event its the brainchild of local rider Kye Forte, who told BBC Spotlight: "It's always been a dream. The course is a different concept and it's just different to any other event.

"We've put one of the wildest courses in one of the most beautiful parts of the world."
