Three Jersey players have been selected in the World Cricket League Division Five tournament's first XI. Peter Gough, Ryan Driver and captain Matt Hague have all been picked in the team of the best players at last week's tournament in Jersey. Gough has been selected as an opening batsman after ending with an average of 104 runs including a top score of 75. Hague and Driver have been picked as all-rounders. Hague, the Jersey captain, was also picked to skipper the side while Afghanistan's Karim-Khan Sedeq was chosen to keep wicket, one of three Afghans in the squad. Also in the first XI is Nepal's Mahaboob Alam who was selected as an all-rounder and was named player of the tournament. He became the first player ever to take 10 wickets in an associate or affiliate member one day international when he played against Mozambique. He also scored 158 runs at an average of 31.60. Jersey's Steve Carlyon was picked as an opening batsman in the tournament's second XI. As Peter Gough's partner at the top of the order Carlyon scored 164 runs at an average of 27.33 including 56 not out in the rain-affected match with Japan on Saturday 24 May.
