Much Wenlock slip further behind

cricket ball

Much Wenlock stay rooted to the foot of the Shropshire League despite holding on for a draw against Quatt.

Dean Robinson (104 not out) top-scored for Quatt at Linden Field in the home side's 236 from their 50 overs.

In reply, Dave Bradley hit a quickfire 37. But it took tail ender Mark Brown to see Wenlock, still without a league win, through to a losing draw on 153-8.

Martin Murdoch (3-20) and Shivraj Singh (3-40) starred for Broseley, who limited Reman Services to 142-9.

But Broseley's hopes of beating the league leaders were dashed despite a good start.

Jonathon Lloyd hit a 50 from only 41 balls, but Wendell Wagner then took five wickets to bowl out Broseley for 126 and secure the win which sent Reman 19 points clear at the top.

Albrighton maintained their pursuit of the league leaders with a comfortable eight-wicket win against Shelton.

Matthew Wright (3-27) and Jason Summers (3-19) led the way as they bowled Shelton out for 103.

Wright then topped off a good day with 64 not out as Albrighton eased to victory.

In another low-scoring game, Bomere Heath made hard work of their run chase against Newtown.

Chris Stevens (4-45) ripped out Newtown's top order. But, in a nail-biting finish, Bomere's Ian Day (23 not out) helped his side home to a one-wicket win.

Promotion hopefuls Madeley lost by 53 runs against Welshpool.

Phil Lewis top scored with an unbeaten 77 as the home side posted 188. But then Madeley got off to the worst possible start, losing both openers without scoring.

Rob Birch took six wickets as Welshpool won to lift them into fifth place.

Ludlow's batsmen were in fine form away at Wem notching up 252-7 in their 50 overs, Gareth Parker setting the pace with 61.

But Wem made it to 205-7, holding on for a losing draw, thanks largely to Matthew Cohen's 68.
