Rain intervened to restrict Shifnal to a winning draw in their Birmingham League premier division clash with West Bromwich Dartmouth on Saturday. Jono Whitney and Bryan Jones both hit 61 as Shifnal declared on 175-2 but then bad light stopped play with the visitors on 123-3. In division one Wellington hung on for a draw on 119-9 in reply to Cannock's 160 as Adam Byram took four wickets. Shrewsbury hosted Stratford, who made 63-1 before the rain beat both of them. St George's moved up to third in division two, thanks to a winning draw at Old Elizabethans. Lee Griffiths (62) and Andy Johnson (59) were the mainstays of the Saints' 174-7, but they could not quite polish off their opponents who reached 89-9. Newport pulled themselves off the foot of the table with a winning draw at Evesham. The hosts were restricted to 105, Rasike taking 4-45, but Newport then struggled to 93-8 - taking the winning draw on a faster run-rate. In division three, Whitchurch's Yousaf took 4-90 - but Olton still made 231-7. Whitchurch replied with 168-7 (Maisam Hasnain 102) in an innings restricted to 33 overs - and took the points on a faster run-rate. Promoted Oswestry lost again. Warwick Fynn scored 62, but Oswestry only managed 135 leaving Brockhampton to ease to a seven-wicket success. Bridgnorth against Lichfield was abandoned without a ball being bowled. In the Marstons Shropshire League, leaders Reman Services (150-7) took 13 points against Newtown (54-5), but second-placed Madeley were frustrated by the weather - taking seven points (92-7) against Wem (55-23).
