Shifnal's Birmingham League cricketers failed to fulfil their promise again after being held to a draw by Moseley. Gary Putland and Guy Bulpitt took three wickets each to restrict the south Birmingham side to 188-8 - but Shifnal could only reply with 154-8. In Division One, Gavin Byram made 66 as Wellington (209-9) beat Halesowen (133) by 76 runs. Jack Shantry took 4-53 and then hit 52 as Shrewsbury (152-6) drew at Bromsgrove (214-8). In Division Two, St George's were 144 all out against Tamworth, but then saw off their opponents for 115 to win by 29 runs. Ed Keenan, with 49, and Paul Furniss, with an unbeaten 41, were the only real contributors as Newport made 120, and it was not enough as Ombersley eased to 123-4. In Division Three, newly-promoted Oswestry lost their first home game in the League by five wickets against title favourites Wombourne. Warrick Fynn scored an impressive 116 not out as Oswestry made a useful 211-6, but Wombourne showed their teeth to reach 212-5 with seven overs to spare. Whitchurch turned it around against Fordhouses to win by six runs. Simon Green, 17, scored 42 as Whitchurch were all out for 153. Fordhouses were then coasting at 108-2 - but Martin Williams came on to take bowling figures of 5-30 in 12 overs, and Fordhouses crashed to 147. Peter Thompson scored 49 in Bridgnorth's 149, but Bablake reached a winning target of 152-6.
