Reman Services, many people's favourite to win the Shropshire Premier League, began the new cricket season with a 67-run win over Welshpool.

John Wigley hit 56 as Reman reached 186 for 7. In reply Welshpool were bowled out for 119 with Shane Gwilt taking 5 for 22.

Madeley (136-9) beat Ludlow (70 all out) by 66 runs. John Fawcett was unbeaten on 50 for Madeley.

Albrighton (184-7) had a winning draw against Quatt, who replied with 129-8.

And on day one of the new campaign the other three games fell victim to waterlogged pitches.
