Bopara finds form

Bopara was the highest scorer at the Royal Selangor Club
England's youngsters gained a 58-run win against Malaysia in a warm-up match prior to the under-19 World Cup which begins on 15 February.

Opening batsman Ravi Bopara of Essex anchored the innings with a score of 77 before retiring with exhaustion.

Only two other batsmen, Luke Wright (28) and Adam Harrison (26) reached at least 20 on a damp wicket which had been used for a previous match.

Liam Plunkett was the pick of the England under-19 bowlers with 3-24.

Touring captain Alastair Cook won the toss and elected to bat first before being dismissed for 16.

Bopara and Wright took the score to 129-2 with an 84-run partnership before wickets bgean falling at regular intervals.

The final total was 197 all out.

For Malaysia, Gopinath carried his bat for 72 not out but only one other batsman scraped into double figures as Plunkett struck form.

Plunkett's Durham team-mate Mark Turner 2-30 whil David Stiff (2-9) and Samit Patel (2-18) also enjoyed success.
