Iqbal stars in Scottish win
Scotland registered their first win of the under-19 World Cup in Bangladesh, with a three-wicket win over Nepal.

After losing their first four matches and being bowled out for 22 by Australia, the Scots finally came good in the Plate competition.

Moneeb Iqbal took 2-34 and hit 62 for Scotland but in a tight finish they needed eight an over off the last 15, chasing 201 for victory.

But Sean Weeraratna's 34 from 26 balls got them home with one ball to spare.

"It was a very tense win," said Scotland team manager Alistair Scott.

"Our bowlers did very well to put us in a winning position but our batsmen looked nervous and I was very relieved when they made it.

"We are now in a good position to qualify for the semi-finals and a win against Papua New Guinea should see us through."

India's Suresh Raina plays a late cut

Elsewhere, India overcame a shaky start to beat West Indies by 96 runs and move to the top of their Super League group.

They lost both openers with only 18 on the board but managed to post a score of 253-9, thanks chiefly to Suresh Raina, who made 66.

Raina then picked up two wickets, but Abhishek Sharma was the chief destroyer with 4-28 as West Indies were bowled out for 157 despite 51 from Assad Fudadin.

All four teams in their group now have two points after Sri Lanka beat South Africa by 29 runs at the Fatullah District Stadium.

Opener Upul Tharanga hit 117 in an impressive total of 277-5.

The South Africa reply got off to a stuttering start, gathered pace later, but was always held in check by Sri Lanka seamers Farveez Mahroof and Manoj Chanaka.

Sri Lanka coach DS de Silva said: "We will now look to be positive in the group decider against India."

Australia enjoyed a nine-wicket win over Papua New Guinea at the Chittagong Divisional Stadium in the Plate.

Australia made light work of Papua New Guinea, winning by nine wickets at the Chittagong Divisional Stadium to all-but-guarantee their place in the Plate Championship semi-finals.

PNG coach Paul Joseph said: "You know that you cannot win a match like this but it will help us in the future.

"It was a good experience for the players and I have no doubt that it will help them improve."
